We use Pythagoras Theorem to find the height:

a² + b² = c²

48² + height² = 50²

height² = 50² - 48²

height² = 196

height = √196

height = 14 cm

.

Find the area:

Area of triangle = 1/2 x base x height

Area of triangle = 1/2 x 48 x 14 = 336 cm²

.

Answer: Area = 336 cm²
