Base = 12 cm

Altitude = 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's suppose,

Altitude,h =x

Base ,b= x+4

Area of triangle =½*b*h = ½*(x+4)*(x)

48= (x²+4x)/2

96=x²+4x

x²+4x-96=0

x²+12x-8x-96=0

x(x+12)-8(x+12)=0

Means (x+12)(x-8)=0

x+12=0,x=-12 eliminate negative value

So,

x-8=0, x=8 cm
