Step-by-step explanation:

base=b

altitude =h

b=h+4

area of the triangle=1/2bh

48=1/2×h+4×h

96=h^2+4h

0=h^2+4h-96

0=h^2+12h-8h-96

0=h(h+12)-8(h+12)

0=(h+12)(h-8)

h+12=0,h-8=0

h=8cm

b=8+4=12cm
