Let the hypotenuse be x

By pythagorus theorm,

(Hypotenuse)² = (Perpendicular)² + (Base)²

⇒ x² = (7)² + (5)²

⇒ x² = 49 + 25

⇒ x² = 74

⇒ x = √74

⇒ x = 8.6 (approximate value)

Hence, the hypotenuse is 8.6

Step-by-step explanation:

by pythagoras theorem,

5^2+7^2=hypotenuse^2

25+49=hypotenuse^2

74=hypotenuse^2

root74=hypotenuse

hypotenuse=8.6023.......
