The base of a triangular field is 2 times its altitude. If its area is 400 m2, then the length of its base is ?

let \: the \: altitude \: be \: x

base \:  = 2x

area \: of \: traingularfield \:  =  \frac{1}{2}  \times base \:  \times  \: altitude

400  \: {m}^{2}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 2x \times x

400 \times 2 = 2 {x}^{2}

 {x}^{2}  =  \frac{400 \times 2}{2}  = 400

x =  \sqrt{400}

x = 20 \: m

length \: of \: the \: base \:  = 2x \:  = 2(20) = 40 \: m
