The area  of triangle=12cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Base of isosceles  triangle, a=8cm

Side of isosceles triangle are

b=5 cm=c

Semi-perimeter of triangle,s=\frac{a+b+c}{2}=\frac{8+5+5}{2}=9cm

Area of triangle by Heron's formula

=\sqrt{s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)}

By using the formula

Area of given triangle =\sqrt{9(9-8)(9-5)(9-5)}

Area of given triangle=\sqrt{9\times 4\times 4}

Area of given triangle=12cm^2

Hence, the area  of triangle=12cm^2
