Solution
Given :-
- The base of an isosceles triangle is 12 cm.
- Its perimeter is 32.
Find :-
- Area of isosceles triangle
Explanation
We Know,
★ Perimeter of isosceles triangle = 2a + b
Where,
- a = equal side of isosceles
- b = base of isosceles
★ Area of isosceles = √[(a² - b²/4)]
Now,
==> perimeter of isosceles = 2a + 12
==> 32 = 2a + 12
==> 2a = 32 - 12
==> 2a = 20
==> a = 20/2
==> a = 10
Since,
- Equal side of triangle be a = 10 cm
Now,
==> Area of isosceles = √[(10² - 12²/4)]
==> Area of isosceles = √[(100 - 144/4)]
==> Area of isosceles = √[100 - 36]
==> Area of isosceles = √64
==> Area of isosceles = 8 cm²
Hence
- Area of isosceles triangle will be = 8
