Let the measure of the equal sides be 'x'

Then the base = x + 3

Perimeter = 54

$x + x + x + 3 = 54$

$3x + 3 = 54$

$3x = 51$

x = 17 cm

∴ Length of the equal sides = 17 cm

Length of the base = 20 cm

Perimeter = 54 cm

x + x + x + 3 = 54

3x = 51

x = 51/3 = 17 cm

x = 17 cm
