The function of spark plug in automobile is to provide a place for an electric spark that is hot enough by which a fuel can be ignited in internal combustion engine.To meet this requirement a high voltage current is provided across a gap on spark plug.
Hence the base of Spark plug is made up of ceramics as Ceramics is a heat resistance inorganic solids ,corrosion resistant and hard.
