We know , area of contact is inversely proportional to pressure , i.e --- the more the area , lesser is the pressure . Keeping that in mind , tall building have greater weight ,i.e force exerted by it is more . The foundation(area of contact) of the building is increased to reduce the pressure exerted by the building on the ground.
