Complex.
People make the mistake of generalizing people. Yes, the hypocrisy of that statement isn’t lost on me.
Humanity isn’t greedy, many people are. Many people are also selfless and generous.
Humanity isn’t destructive, many people are. Many people work hard to build and preserve.
Humanity isn’t violent, many people are. Many people are peaceful by nature.
There is no single word that can encompass humanity as a whole. There is no single word that can describe a nation as a whole, or a city, or a district, or a family.
It’s even impossible to describe a single human being with one word.
The one thing we all share is that we are complicated. We hate and love, build and destroy, give and take. We strive to be fair yet often treat people unfairly. We think ourselves flawless, yet berate ourselves for our flaws. We are confident in our correctness, yet deeply afraid to be wrong. We are walking messes of hopes, expectations, realities and contradictions.
We are complex. The sooner we begin to imagine each other complexly, as people doing what we feel is right, as creatures with inner worlds just as rich and confused as our own, the sooner we can perhaps begin to work together.
I hope it's helpful for you. Thank you ❤️❤️
