She was very intelligent and loved writing and dreamed of becoming a famous writer one day. She named her diary, Kitty. Anne would write about everyday events in her diary; things that probably didn't seem that important at the time, but that have helped us form a picture of what life was like during this incredibly difficult time in history. Because of the WWII and Hitler's anti-Jewish laws, they all went into hiding in the very heart of Amsterdam, Mr. Frank's office, which Anne named "Secret Annexe". At first, she was quite childish, couldn't bear the teasing chatters from others in the Annexe, but slowly she became an empathetic and sensitive thinker and a person whom we all can count as hero and respect her. On August 4th, 1944, the residents of the Annexe (The Franks, Mr and Mrs. Van Daan, Peter Van Daan, Mr. Albert Dussel along with their helpers Mr. Johannes Kleiman, Mr. Victor Kugler. Though not Elisabeth (Bep) Voskuijl and Miep Gies). Anne dies of typhus in the concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen in late February or early March of 1945.
