Why is the sky blue? When the sun's light reaches the Earth's atmosphere it is scattered, or deflected, by the tiny molecules of gas (mostly nitrogen and oxygen) in the air. Because these molecules are much smaller than the wavelength of visible light, the amount of scattering depends on the wavelength.

The blue colour of the sky is caused due to scattering of light... the dust particles and different gases present in the atmosphere are capable of scattering the blue light due to its appreciable wavelength...the scattered blue colour is reflected and we see the sky blue...
so blue colour of sky is caused by dust molecule and various other gases like nitrogen ,oxygen etc etc of atmosphere and via a process called scattering of light.....
hope it helps u..
