The body sitting in a compartment of a moving train is said to be at rest with respect to the other .body in the train.why?

this is said because in this universe nothing is in motion or in stationery state.
rest n motion is based upon the way the observer observes the other object.

in this case the body are moving with a constant speed and by observing they both r at rest.

but if any other viewer will view if standing outside the train then for that observer they will be moving.

The person who is sitting inside the train,

he or she will observe the vertical motion only

because the object and the person are both moving

with same velocity in horizontal direction.

For the person outside the train path would be parabolic in nature.

Because the person is outside the train but still but

the object have constant horizontal velocity and

varying vertical velocity.
