Answer:

The body which is in motion always tries to move in some direction and till some force act on it this property is known as Law Of Inertia .

Explanation:

The law of inertia is also known as Newton's first law of motion . Which states that :

"Every body continues to be in its state of rest or uniform motion unless and until a net external force acts on it."

There are three different types of inertia :

  • Inertia of rest : If a body is in rest , it continues to be in rest unless a net external force acts on it.

  • Inertia of motion : If a body is in motion , it remains in state state of uniform motion unless a net external force acts on it.

  • Inertia of direction : It is the resistance of a body to change its direction of motion on its own.

Examples Of Inertia :

  • Example -1) [Linked to inertia of rest]

When a bus stops suddenly , the standing passengers tend to fall backwards. This happens because in a bus , the lower portion of the passenger's body wants remains in motion while upper part comes to rest. hence , a standing passenger tends to fall backwards.

  • Example -2) [Links to inertia of motion]

(taking a similar to first example) When a bus starts suddenly , the standing passengers tends to fall forwards. This happens because the lower portion of the body wants to remain at rest but the upper part of body starts moving. Hence, a standing passenger tends to fall forwards.

  • Example -3) When a car takes sudden tern towards left , the person sitting inside gets pulled towards right. This happens because when the car takes sudden tern , the body of the person inside continues to go in original direction , while the car starts to go in another direction.

✍️ The body which is in motion always tries to move in some direction and till some force act on it, this property is known as ‘INERTIA’ .

✴️ ‘Newton's first law of Motion also known as ‘Galileo's law of Inertia’ .

✍️ It states that, ‘Everybody continues in it's state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled by an external unbalanced force to change that state’ .

✍️ Inertia is the property of the body due to which body opposes the change of it's state .

✍️ Inertia of a body is measured by mass of the body .
