At higher altitudes, the boiling point is lower when compared to normal altitudes

  • Boiling water at higher altitude is quicker than lower altitudes  because of lower air pressure
  • For every 300 meters from the earth air pressure will be decreased, since air pressure lower, then the water will take less heat to boil, which means water will boil at a lower temperature at a higher altitudes.
  • Boiling temperature of water decreases by 1°C for every 300 meters.
  • That's why in the place like the mount Everest the boiling point of water will be less when compared to places like Murree, since it will be at a lower altitude compared to Everest
  • The boiling point of water at the mount Everest is 70°C and while at Muree is 98°C then the difference of these temperatures is 28°C
