The Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Bill, 1976 was passed by both the Houses of Parliament. It received the assent of the President on 9th February, 1976 and came on the Statute Book as THE BONDED LABOUR SYSTEM (ABOLITION) ACT, 1976 (19 of 1976). The Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Amendment Act, 1985 (73 of 1985).
