Book is the best invention because with book we can't study,we can't read. This book looks at the way leadership has been perceived over the years and how we can orient our minds to be effective leaders. However, the book deviates from the conventional perception of leaders and leadership styles. It does not explore the role of leaders in the corporate world or in the society but focuses on cultivating the reader’s taste in literature thus improving the reader’s mind and enabling him/her to be a sensitive human being. The thrust of the book is that only those who go beyond the obvious and look at ‘subjective reality’ can truly understand people around them and in the process become good leaders. The book, meant not only for experts in the field of leadership but also for common readers, is divided into five sections, each section taking up a different aspect of leadership. The first section on ‘Leaders and Leadership’ provides readers with an account of the way the concept of leadership has evolved over the years. The author uses history and literature to illustrate how people have led others through the ages and presents different and often contradictory ways of looking at leadership. He writes about four approaches to leadership—trait approach, contingency approach, situational approach, and constitutive approach—providing a holistic view. He also discusses the difference between leaders and managers, stating that they fulfil two conflicting needs of an organization: managers are required to maintain continuity and growth, while leaders are required to look at new approaches and explore new areas
