The Light on the Hills is a story written by Lucy Clifford, which is about a boy who desired to paint a beautiful picture.

EXPLANATION:

The little boy in this story had a desire to paint a picture, however laked  however lacked the courage, confidence and was nervous to paint the picture.  He was afraid as he thought how the society would respond to his imperfect work. However he had a sister whom he loved very much.

Seeing her brother not able to paint she encourages him and builds his confidence. With his sister’s encouragement, the boy started painting the picture. However, soon a tragedy struck the family and the boy’s sister died.

While the boy was extremely grieved over his sister’s death, the sorrow gave him the power to draw the picture which won him recognition and he went on to become a confident artist. He realised  perfact love had helped him to work, and he was sad that that his sister was not alive to see his success.
