The boy was cured of typhoid. It's not from because if it is used it gives a meaning that the boy was cured because of typhoid but that is not right!

ANSWER:

The boy was cured of typhoid.

EXPLANATION:

The phrase ‘cured of’ clearly indicates that the boy was relieved completely. He was totally healed and does not require any more treatment on it. Hence, ‘of’ is used here to insist that he was totally free from the infection and he was not left with the symptoms of it anymore.

One who was with illness was cured of and made healthy again. Hence, ‘cured of’ is the right option to go with the sentence which implies the correct meaning of the sentence.
