The ‘number of girls’ is 160.

To find:

The ‘number of girls’ in a school?

Solution:

The given ratio in school for boys and girls are \frac{B}{G}=\frac{9}{\mathrm{5}}.

The total strength B + G = 448 ……….(1)

B=\frac{9}{5} G

Substuting B value in the equation (1) such that

\frac{9}{5} G+G=448

14 G=448 \times 5=2240

G=\frac{2240}{14}=160

The value of B=\frac{9}{5} \times 160=288

The value of Girls = 160.
