Answer :-

  • Number of boys = 420
  • Number of girls = 240

Given :-

  • The boys and girls in a school are in ratio 7 : 4, the total strength of the school is 660.

To Find :-

  • Number of boys and girls.

Solution :-

Put x in the ratio

  • Number of boys = 7x
  • Number of girls = 4x

Here

  • Total strength of the school is 660.

According to question :-

⇒ 7x + 4x = 660

⇒ 11x = 660

⇒ x = 660/11

⇒ x = 60

Now

  • Number of boys = 7x = 7 × 60 = 420
  • Number of girls = 4x = 4 × 40 = 240

Hence, the number of boys and girls are 420 and 240 respectively.
