The brakes applied on a car produces an acceleration of 8 m/s² in the opposite direction to the motion. If the car takes 3 seconds to stop after the application of brakes, the distance it travels during the time will be? Anyone who will answer this question correct will be marked as brainliest.

Answer:

Hi there!

Here acceleration will be negative.

So,

a= -8 m/s2

t= 3 s

v= 0 m/s

s=?

According to the first equation of motion,

v = at + u

0= (-8)(3)+u

0= -24 +u

24=u

u =24 m/s

According to second equation of motion,

s = ut + (1/2) at2

s= (24)(3)+ (1/2) (-8)(9)

s=36 m

Hope this helps you.
