Given:

Let the length be x

According to the question breadth of a rectangle garden is 2/3 of its length

breadth = 2/3 x

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2( length + breadth)

2[x+\frac{2}{3}x ]=40

2(\frac{5x}{3} )=40\\

10x=40 \times 3\\10x=120\\x=\frac{120}{10} \\x=12 m

Length=12m

breath=12 \times\frac{2}{3} \\breath=4 \times2\\breath=8 m

Hence its dimensions is 12m and 8m

Let 'x' be the length of the rectangle

According to the question, the breadth of a rectangle garden is 2/3 of its length

Breadth = \frac{2}{3} x

The perimeter is given to be 40 m

Formula to be used

Perimeter = 2(l+b)

           40 = 2(x+ \frac{2}{3} x)

             40 =2(\frac{5x}{3} )

        40\times3 =10x\\120=10x\\x=12

So, length = x

                 =12 m

Breadth =  \frac{2}{3} x

             =\frac{2}{3} \times12

            = 8m

So, the length and breadth will be 12m and 8m respectively
