hence⇒ 2(x + x/3 +5) = 42

         ⇒ 2(4x/3+ 5)= 42

         ⇒ 8x/3 + 10 = 42

         ⇒ 8x/3 = 42-10 = 32

         ⇒ 8x = 32 × 3 = 96

         ⇒ x = 96/8

         ⇒ x = 12

length = 12/3 +5 = 4+ 5 = 9cm
