Given :-

  • The Breadth of a rectangle is 6cm less than its Length.
  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 60cm

 \\

To Find :-

  • Measures of Length and Breadth

 \\

Solution :-

❏ As we know that Perimeter of a Rectangle is given by [ Perimeter = 2 ( Length + Breadth ) ]. Now According to the Question it is given that The Breadth of a rectangle is 6cm less than its Length Therefore :

⟼ Let the Length be x cm

⟼ Then the Breadth will be x - 6 cm

According to the Question :

➞ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( L + B )

➞ 60 = 2( x + x - 6 )

➞ 60 / 2 = ( x + x - 6 )

➞ 30 = 2x - 6

➞ 30 + 6 = 2x

➞ 36 = 2x

➞ 36 / 2 = x

➞ 18cm = x

________________

Verification :

➟ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( L + B )

➟ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( x + x - 6)

➟ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(18 + 18 - 6)

➟ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(36 - 6)

➟ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 × 30

➟ 60 = 60

Hence Verified

________________

Therefore :

  • Length of Rectangle = x = 18cm
  • Breadth of Rectangle = x - 6 = 18 - 6 = 12cm

Additional Info :

Formulas Related to Rectangle :

  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( l + b)
  • Area = Length × Breadth
  • Length = Area / Breadth
  • Breadth = Area / Length
  • Diagonal = √(l)² + (b)²
