The breadth of a rectangular garden is 2/3 of its length. If its perimeter is 40 m, find its dimensions.

Let length be 'a' cm

Breadth = (2/3)*a

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2( length + breadth)

2(a+ 2a/3) = 40

2[(3a+2a)÷3]= 40

2(5a/3) = 40

2*5a = 40*3

10a = 40*3

a = 12

Length = 12cm

Breadth = (2/3)*12 = 8cm

Verification

Perimeter = 2(12+8) = 40
