let the length of rectangular garden be X m

then breadth = 2/3 * X

= 2x/3 m

perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

40 m =2(x + 2x/3)

40 = 2(3x + 2x)/3

40*3/2 = 5x

20*3 = 5x

60 = 5x

X = 60/5

X = 12 m

Therefore, length of rectangular garden is 12 m

Breadth of rectangular garden = (2*12)/3

= 24/3

= 8 m
