Break down plan in 1946 for transfer of power to India had been proposed by the British.

I would also like to give some history behind this.

What happened was that initially the British government sent a Cabinet Mission to India in March, 1946 to negotiate with Indian leaders and agree to the terms of the transfer of power.

Then what happened was that  after difficult negotiations a federal solution was proposed by both parties. Despite initial agreement, both sides eventually rejected the plan
