The breaking stress of aluminium is 7.5x 10 7 N/m 2 . Find the greatest length of aluminium wire that can hang vertically without breaking. Density of aluminium is 2.7x10 3 kg/m 3 .

 \frac{mg}{A} = 7.5×10⁷
 \frac{m}{A} = 7.5×10⁶
∵g = 10 m/sec²
 \frac{m}{V} = 2.7×10³
 \frac{m}{A×<span>L} = 2.7×10³
 \frac{m}{A×2.7×10³} = L
 \frac{7.5×10⁶}{2.7×10³} = L
L = 2.78×10³ m
