THIS IS BECAUSE ONCE WE INHALE OUR CAPILARIES GET FILLED WITH AIR THEY EXCHANGE THE OXYGEN WITH CARBON DIOXIDE .... THEREFORE BREATHING CYCLE IS RHYTHEMIC BUT EXCHANGE OF GASES IS CONTINUES....
