The brightness of light,emitted by a bulb,is observed to decrease when an electric heater is connected in series with it.Suggest the likely reason for this observation.

when the electric heater is connected in series the overall resistance increases ..
from the ohms law we know that
V=IR
I=V/R
(V= potential drop
I = current
R = resistance )
so resistance in inversely proportional to current when resistance is increased current decreases.. hence the brightness also decreases..
