Answer:

Since their arrival, the British started the process of colonization and their rule by various methods, most notably Outright wars and Administration methods.

1. Outright wars- The British had started their rule with wars such as Battle of Buxar, Battle of Plassey, Third Anglo-Maratha War, Anglo-Sikh War.

2.Administration- One of the most notable examples is the annexation of Oudh ( Awadh) on the pretext of alleged misrule.

Other measures also include Doctrine of Lapse ( e.g Jhansi) and the Subsidiary Alliance ( e.g. Hyderabad )
