The British with its divide and rule policy ultimately divided the country into two parts. Can you think of an alternative solution that could have kept India united?

In that time we should organize a community for the vnity between all the castes. Ask them to appose the British...

Divide and Rule policy was a policy of the British in which they sowed the seeds of hatred among communities of Hindus and Muslims so that we could not be united and strong enough to fight with the British .

Why did they adopt the policy ?

They adopted the policy so that they can easily administer our country .

They can easily extract resources and exploit us .

The Muslim and Hindu unity was their strongest enemy.

Their unity brought about the First War of Independence .

Hence they resorted to this policy.

Alternative solutions :

  • We should have formed an army with modern arms which should be outside India ( which INA did ) .
  • We should have strengthened our mass ( which the Congress failed to do ) .
  • The Congress promoted unity among upper classes only and failed to bring unity among the population . Thus the Congress should have been perfect to avoid it .
  • Spread awareness through press.
