this statement tells that the third estate of all the estates had to pay taxes alone . the first estate - clergy and the second estate - nobles enjoyed privilges by birth . one of them was that they did not have to pay taxes .the clergy or the church extracted taxes from peasents which was called tithes . the taxes given by the third estate also included a direct tax from the government , called taille and a no. of indirect taxes . the feudal privilges also included fedul deues which were extracted by the peasents .

hope it helps !!
