‘Madam Rides the Bus’

The bus and its new set of passengers were source of extreme happiness for Valli.

In the story ‘Madam Rides the Bus’ Valliammai, Valli for short, was an eight year old girl who lived in a make-belief world of imagination when she saw the village bus passing her house.

After meticulous planning and saving her pocket money Valli managed to enjoy a ride to and back on her dream bus.

Valli had imagined a world beyond that would behold the passengers of the bus. Once she had boarded the bus she was living her dream.

The landscape outside with its pastoral grandeur and the motley of passengers that boarded on and off the bus were sources of extreme happiness for her.

The new passengers brought in new excitement  and attraction for her. There was so much to observe and be amused by their mannerism.

Similarly the scene outside as viewed from the bus window was equally exciting. A young cow running along the road, the farmers on the fields the various flora and fauna greatly entertained Valli.
