oxygen is necessary for burning anything. when the burning candle is covered with the glass, the contact between the oxygen and the candle breaks, which put of the candle........

A candle will stop burning when covered with a glass tumbler because burning or combustion requires oxygen. Covering with a glass tumbler will limit the amount of oxygen inside the tumbler that is left for the candle to burn. Once all the oxygen is used up by the candle, it will stop burning...
