The Canterville Ghost was cremated with stately honour. From being an object of ridicule, he has gained the sympathy of all. What does this tell you about basic human traits ?

The story of the Canterville ghost teaches us the universal lessons of perdition of human soul (even after death) in the wake of some unforgivable offense that it could have done to any other soul. The universal laws of justice mete out such punishment as leads the wrongdoers and the unrighteous to penitence and the souls of such people have to make amends for their wrong doings. Until they atone for completely for their misdeeds, they have to lead a restless, forlorn, remorseful and painful life which is sufficient to make them realize their mistakes. In the story, the ghost of Sir Simon D Canterville is doomed to live a restless life repenting his sin of murdering his own wife for no reason. And finally his soul his set free by the compassionate, kindhearted Virginia. We learn that the deliverance of human soul is through love and compassion only. Sin and unrighteousness lead to endless suffering of body, mind and soul. These laws are applicable to all trains, climes and regions equally.
