Given : The capacity of a nuclear power plant is 500 MW. If the efficiency of power plant is 60%

To Find : the mass (loss) that converted into energy per hour is

1/50 g

1/60 g

1/30 g

1/120 g

Solution:

The capacity of a nuclear power plant is 500 MW

the efficiency of power plant is 60%

Let say Energy to be produced  = x

Energy produced = (60/100)x = 3x/5

=>  3x/5  = 500 MW

=> x =  2500/3  MW

Energy Produced per hour  = 3600 *  2500/3  M Joule

= 1200 * 2500  M Joule

= 3000000 M Joule

= 3 * 10¹²  Joule

E = mC²

C = 3 * 10⁸  m/s

=> m  * ( 3 * 10⁸)² = 3 * 10¹²

=> m = 1/ 3 * 10⁴   kg

=> m = 1000 / 3  * 10⁴  g

=> m  =  1/ 30  g

mass (loss) that converted into energy per hour    =  1/ 30  g
