Given : The capacity of a pail is 2.1 litre. It can hold 1.75 litre more liquid than a mug.

To Find  :  the capacity of the mug.

Solution:

Let say the capacity of the mug.  =  X litre

pail  can hold 1.75 litre more liquid than a mug.

=> capacity of a pail =  X + 1.75  litre

capacity of a pail is 2.1 litre

Equating both

=>  X + 1.75 = 2.1

=> X =  2.1 - 1.75

=> X = 0.35  litre

capacity of the mug. = 0.35  litre   or 350 ml
