Define x:

Let the water used be x

The water that remain = x - 5

Form equation and solve for x:

The capacity of the container is 25 litres

x + (x - 5) = 25

x + x -5 = 25

2x - 5 = 25

2x = 30

x = 15 litres

Answer: 15 litres of the water is used.
