the car a of mass 500 kg , travelling at 25m/s collid with other car b of 1000 kg travelling at 15m/s in the same direction after collision the velocity of car a becomes 1 20m/s . calculate the velocity of car but after collision.

we know that:
momentum before collision= momentum after collision
m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2
here m1=500kg
m2=1000kg
u1=25 m/s
u2= 15 m/s
v1=120 m/s
put these values:
12500+15000=60000+1000.v2
1000.v2= 27500-60000
1000v2=-32500
v2=-32.5m/s
where negative sign shows that after Collision, both the cars will be in same direction.
