First of all buddy..if you have these types of choices (that too in India) you would have made them earlier may be when you were 10 or something…because these two fields are filled with immense competition and require hard talent, unlike an engineering entrance for which you can prepare up in 2 years or so..

But don't be upset because it's better late than never..!! If you have hard financial conditions then i would suggest you to play cricket and if you are well of them you may persue anyone

For Cricket

If you start practising now ( totally focusing on it) you need atleast two and a half to three years to gain novice experience. By the age of 18 and 19 if you have talent and have played hard you may be in the eyes of selectors for U 19 world cup. Else you will have chance to have a seat in one of the Ranji teams of your performances there are exceptional as in Duleep trophy or any other tournament, you can get an IPL call up. Now after that international exposure(which would take more of 2 years) you will be 20 or 21.

Now let's assume you have a good run in domestic then you will be called up for national side.

You see so much to play and earn along with fame and recoginition.

For Football

Same process at initial stage. U19 call up then again domestic. An ISL call up but the tournament not so popular. Very few international participation of team india unlike cricket.
