The cost of 2 oranges and 3 apples is 46 and the cost of 3 oranges and 5 apples is 74.

Find the cost of an orange and an apple.

 \huge \bold { \underline{Solution}}

Given:-

  • The cost of 2 oranges and 3 apples is 46.
  • The cost of 3 oranges and 5 apples is 74.

To prove:-

  • Cost of an orange and an apple.

Solution:-

➣Let the cost of oranges be x.

➣Let the cost of apples be y.

According To Question:-

➣2x  + 3y = 46

➣3x + 5y = 74

Now multiply equation (i) by 3 and equation (ii) by 2.

➣6x + 9y = 138

➣6x + 10y = 148

_________________________________

➣ - 1y =  - 10

y = 10

In substituting in (I) for X we will get X=

➣2x  + 3y = 46

➣2x + 30 = 46

➣2x = 46 - 30

2x = 16

x = 18

So the cost of:-

  • Orange:- 18
  • Apple:- 10.
