Yes indeed the caste system has undergone many modifications or changes  

I would rather call it modifications......as unlike the orthodox or old society ,,,discrimination against the lower class people has rduced by more than 80%...  

the reservation scheme has been very useful  to them .. their children get equal representation in education as well as job opportunity...
