The maximum horizontal distance travel by the ball is 17.32 m.

in projectile motion, the maximum height reached by a body projected at an angle ∅, Is given by the  relation:

h=\frac{u^2sin^2∅}{2g}

Since the heigh of the tunnel is 5m

5=\frac{20^2*sin^2∅}{2*10}

∅=30 degree

Now the maximum horizontal distance that a ball can travel is calculated as

R=\frac{20^2*sin2(30)}{2*10}

R=17.32 m

Therefore, The maximum horizontal distance travel by the ball is 17.32 m.
