Here's what you need to know:

See, cell membrane is a membrane of the cell which is prior to cell wall. It is semipermeable .i.e. its function is to selectively choose substances that come in or out of the cell. The cell wall has larger pores so it allows every molecule to enter or leave through it without selecting or segregating the molecules.

Now,if it gets damaged, the integrity of the cell is lost .Anything and everthing will come out of the cell. The cell is susceptible to minute changes in environmental conditions like pH, tempertaure and chemicals .So when cell membrane is damaged these changes in condion will harm the cell also to a grater extent . The small molecules which can pass through the pores of cell wall will easily leak out and thus the cell will die .Its functional properties will also be lost.

Hope this helps.

Explanation:

In simple words if the cell membrane breaks out any virus or bacteria would be easily able to affect the cell ,so the cell wouldn't be able to function properly
