The cell membrane is very important component of a cell. How is damage to the cell membrane likely to impact the functions of the cell?

Injury to the membrane has immediate and severe consequences. The common pathway to irreversible cell injury and necrosis involves damage to the cell membrane and there is also a risk of agents both outer plasma membrane and the membranes of organelles are at risk.

Yes, cell membrane is a very important compenent of a cell. And if this part of the cell ruptures out then likely our cell organelles are going to scatter away which can cause a problem in there communication. Besides this cell membrane being an semi permeable membrane does not allow harmful substance inside it but if it ruptures a little bit then all those harmful substance like germs would come inside the cell and can cause harm to our cell organelles and nucleus ( which could inturn cause damage to our DNA ). And also the cell will not get nutrients.
