It can also said to be a part of a function.

The function has 3 parts.

Here, the 3 parts are equal sign, function name and the argument.

A formula can also be divided into different parts.

Let's take an example: =(A1+B1)÷100

Here, we have equal sign, different mathematical operators and argument as 3 parts.

The only difference between function and formula is that the function is predefined formula whereas formula has to be written by us.

And a function has only one particular function that has to be operated where as a formula can be of two types simple - where only one mathematical operator is used and the compound - where more than one mathematical operator is used.
