The cells of a bacteria double itself every hour. How many cells will there be after 12 hour. If initially we start with 1 cell? Express in powers.

Given Initially there is 1 cell.

Given that the cells of a bacteria double itself every hour = 1 + 1

                                                                                                 = 2.

                                                                                                 =  2^{1}


Therefore the total number of cells in 12 hours :

 2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1} *  2^{1}*  2^{1}

=  2^{1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1}

=  2^{12}

In 1 hour a cell doubles= 2 cells in one hour

In 12 hours how many cells= 2 to the power 12

= 2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2

= 8×8×8×8

= 64×64

= 3996
